Pizza

When it comes to making dinner for the whole family, it can be tricky to make something that everyone will like, especially when you have younger children or less-adventurous eaters.  But there is one thing that everyone loves-and that’s pizza

When you make pizza at home, it will always be instantly more nutritious than the delivery variety.  To encourage young ones to eat more veggies, get them involved in the kitchen and cooking process!  Children feel empowered when they create their own pizzas, and are more likely to be adventurous with eating vegetables if they decorate their own pie J

Add fresh and local items that arrive in your Brewer’s Organics Box that week!

Ingredients

2 whole wheat pizza dough balls

Marinara sauce or your favorite pasta sauce

Cheese

Vegetables, sliced or diced thinly

Favorite combinations:

Mushrooms + Scallions + Poblano Pepper + Shredded Mozzarella

Pineapple + Ham + Red Bell Pepper + Colby Jack Cheese

Pear + Sautéed Red Onion + Gorgonzola

Pesto + Tomatoes + Sliced Mozzarella

Directions

Preheat oven to 350˚ F.

Grease pizza pans or baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray.  Roll pizza dough into circles.

The great thing about making pizza at home is that you decide how thin/thick you want your crust.

You can also divide the dough into 4 small pizzas instead of 2 large pizzas, which allows for more individualization of flavor combinations.

Ladle sauce onto each pizza and sprinkle with cheese.  Add vegetables, and then bake for 12 minutes.

Increase oven heat to 425˚ F and bake for 5 minutes.

Serve hot!
