An unexpected twist on a fruity breakfast smoothie, this Strawberry Basil Smoothie not only helps fuel you for the day, but also helps fight bloating! Basil is an herb known for reducing bloat, and pairs well in flavor with both berries and peanut butter.  The perfect light breakfast or even refreshing dessert.

Ingredients

What (your ingredients):

2 cups frozen strawberries

1 frozen banana

1 cup coconut water (almond milk works, too)

1 tablespoon peanut butter

6-8 leaves basil

Directions

How (your directions):

Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender.  Blend for 60 seconds or until smooth.

Enjoy immediately!

Why (the science):  Basil, as well as herbs like mint, parsley, and fennel, have carminative properties that prevent bloating and ease gas.
